The Caribbean has all of the features found in a standard profiling bed as well as independent leg profiling. This allows the Caribbean to have further specialized care with more options for profiling and positioning to ensure the child will find a position ideal for them, enabling the child to adjust the pressure and position on each leg without difficulty. When it comes to children who have conditions such as Duchenne, having independent control of your legs is essential for a comfortable and safe night’s sleep.
Bespoke to each child’s specific needs, the Caribbean has three different lengths expanding from 60” to 66” then 72”, providing effective profiling and turning from anyone aged 3 years old to adulthood. The Caribbean’s turning feature helps children with mobility issues and physical limitations turn themselves in bed. As children grow up and develop, it is important that they will be able to have some level of freedom and privacy from their family to help them mature. All of the Caribbean’s profiling and turning features are operated via easy to understand handsets, giving the child more independence and reducing the need for any manual handling.
For children who need regular support and care as they sleep, the Caribbean can come with an auto-turning box allowing the bed to turn the child automatically during the night. Automated turning enables the child to be turned and receive care without assistance. The auto-turning box has a wide range of programs to choose from ensuring that the program the child receives is catered for their specific needs and will provide the best standard of care possible. There are programs available that are for specific conditions including Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Sclerosis. For children with conditions such as these where they can experience severe chest infections or breathing difficulties, this option can greatly improve the consistent hours of sleep and overall quality of life for the child and their family.
