National Children’s Day UK (NCDUK)

National Children’s Day UK (NCDUK) is all about the importance of a healthy childhood, and how we need to protect the rights and freedoms of children and young people. It’s a day of celebration, but it’s also a great opportunity for anyone involved with children to raise awareness about projects they are running or things they care about.

A fundamental part of a child’s wellbeing and a balanced, healthy childhood is Sleep. Sadly not all children are able to achieve a good night’s sleep due to complex health conditions.

There are countless number of sleep studies that all come to same conclusion. Lack of sleep has a huge knock on affect to all aspects of a child’s mental and physical health and wellbeing. Likewise, when a child is unable to sleep this then in turn means that parents, carers and extended family are also affected by a lack of sleep as they are waking frequently to support their child or sibling.

At Centrobed sadly we hear all too often about children ranging from toddlers to teens all struggling with sleep. Frequent night time waking for repositioning due to a variety of health conditions, for example Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and many more.

Caribbean – A Unique Childrens Turning Bed

Caribbean – A Unique Childrens Turning Bed

Our Caribbean Bed is a unique children’s turning bed. It is a fully profiling bed that turns, has independent leg movement and will also grow with the child! The starting length of the Caribbean is 60“, growing to 66” and then finally to 72”.

This specialist bed has a wide range of movements available that can help a child reposition and find comfort with minimal intervention. It encourages a child’s independence. When used with an Automatic Turning system, the bed can be programmed to turn the child throughout the day or night hands-free, and enables many children (and parents!) to achieve a full nights sleep for the first time. Additionally, the colour and theme of the bed can be fully bespoke so it does not look like a hospital bed!

Funding

We understand that funding can often be a HUGE hurdle for many families. Frequently we hear that knowing where to start is a big concern, as the equipment funding minefield can seem overwhelming.

We would always encourage parents or carers to in addition to speaking with their Occupational Therapist, speak to the amazing charities that can offer some invaluable advice and support.
